In October 2007 Ladew's Board of Trustees held a two day retreat
in which the following Strategic Vision was adopted for the organization:

We imagine a future in which...

Our financial viability and physical assets are secured for future generations.

We have a growing and more active membership that is interested in, inspired by,
and connected to, all that Ladew has to offer.

We have newly constructed facilities that are designed and equipped to better orient,
inform and educate visitors and friends.

We are more widely recognized and celebrated as a significant heritage treasure
and resource at the state, regional and national level.

Our educational programs are supported by the facilities and resources needed to
sustain a distinctive level of quality and relevance.

We operate under basic assumptions that reflect…

- The creative spirit and whimsy of Harvey Ladew

- “A simple love of the place and allegiance to its mission”

- Responsible stewardship of the gardens and the properties

- Traditions that inform the present and shape the future

- A commitment to maintaining world class gardens that are
known for horticultural excellence

- Our commitment to welcome the public, and to act as a
responsible citizen of the larger community.

Our strategic focus areas...

Strengthen, grow, and support the active circle of friends that appreciates, visits, and funds Ladew.

Develop, adopt, and implement a 3-year fund development model to support the vision reflected in this plan.

Strengthen administrative systems; align our governance and advisory systems with the goals of this plan.

Our Mission

The mission of Ladew Topiary Gardens is to maintain and promote the gardens, house and facilities in keeping with the creative spirit of Harvey S. Ladew for the public benefit and for educational, scientific and cultural pursuits.
